Through its Heart to Heart programs, C.A.R.E. strives to
improve our heart rhythm disorder patient’s quality of life
and health by providing a venue where they can meet others
with similar needs and experiences, ask questions and
receive thoughtful, relevant answers from medical experts.
In addition to patient education, Heart to Heart meetings
work to increase visibility of heart disorders in children
and young adults through outreach to those first line health
and child care professionals most likely to encounter these
patients, particularly when they are symptomatic.
Heart to Heart program invitations are sent to school
nurses, athletic coaches, emergency medical services
personnel, family practitioners and pediatricians in the
area. The programs address the specific needs of each
constituent and provide the basis for recognizing the
warning signs and ensuring appropriate diagnosis and
treatment for those at risk of life threatening heart
disorders.
Local support and advocacy groups frequently spring from
these meetings, providing vital contact between patients,
families and their communities long after the close of an
individual Heart to Heart session.
